Remove Bird Feeders to Avoid Tempting Bears
WATERBURY, VT - Vermont's black bears are emerging from their winter dens and looking for springtime food sources. If you have been feeding birds, you can help prevent the bears from getting into trouble by taking down your bird feeders according to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department.
"We are already getting reports of bears getting into bird feeders," said Fish & Wildlife’s Col. David LeCours. "People can help now by removing any food sources that may tempt the bears. That includes taking down bird feeders and not feeding birds until late October." Read more

The Ninth Annual Vermont Maple Open House Weekend will be held at sugarhouses throughout Vermont, March 26-28, 2010. MONTPELIER – A new federal regulation from the U.S. Department of Education required states to identify “persistently low-achieving schools” in order to receive federal funding as part of the Statewide Fiscal Stabilization Fund allocations under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Governor Douglas Criticizes EPA’s Decision to Reconsider TMDL
Montpelier, Vt. (March 9, 2010) – Governor Jim Douglas today strongly criticized the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) decision to reconsider its approval of the Lake Champlain clean up plan – known as the Lake Champlain Total Maximum daily Load (TMDL). In papers filed in federal court yesterday, the EPA stated its intent to reconsider the approval given by EPA Region I in 2002. Read more
Learn Apple Tree Pruning March 20th in Dummerston
